Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with President Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
